The Laird's House re-opens under new management

Nov 1 2012

by Clare Damodaran, Blairgowrie Advertiser

The Laird’s House in Blairgowrie has re-opened its doors under new management.

The restaurant and retail outlet first opened at the start of the summer then closed down suddenly last month.

James Anderson has now been appointed new manager at the establishment. He comes to the post with a wealth of experience from the hotel and country house industry over 20 years.

Speaking to the Blairie ahead of the re-opening yesterday (Thursday) James said: “We are very much open for business. We have a new website and we are taking bookings.

“We have changed all the menus and will be open seven days a week, all day, and open for dinner at night on Wednesdays through to Saturdays. We are open to everyone, absolutely everyone is welcome.

“It is a brand new venture, a new string to my bow and we have been very busy organising everything to make sure that we are ready to welcome people through the doors on Thursday.”

Most recently James was general managing at Raemoir Country House Hotel in Banchory, and he has worked at big-name hotels such as One Devonshire Gardens in Glasgow and Cringletie House near Edinburgh.

He has worked his way up from chef and front of house and has also been general manager at the Lands of Loyal Hotel in Alyth. He currently lives in Perth, where he has family.

James added: “I am excited about the opportunities this affords me personally and for Blairgowrie and east Perthshire. We want to deliver what local people want and appeal to a wider market at the same time so that we can bring more people into the area.

“We are looking at working with local organisations such as the Blairgowrie and East Perthshire Tourism Association as well as the national tourist board and want to link in with other businesses in the area. Even though we are all independent restaurants there is no reason why we can’t all work together.

“It is definitely true that tourism is everyone’s business and it is in everyone’s interests that the industry is a success.”
