When contacted by the Blairie last week, there was still no update from Wetherspoon regarding confirmation of an on-site or opening date.
In an email to the company Councillor Shiers said: “I have been approached by a number of local residents and businesses regarding the premises.
“I know you have carried out some initial works but I wondered if you have any timescales for completion?
“In the interim I would be really pleased if you can help Blairgowrie businesses by perhaps carrying out some temporary works to the windows.”
Councillor Shiers went on: “Even screens of some sort would be a very welcome improvement as we head towards the Christmas season and we are trying to ensure the town looks as welcoming as possible for locals and visitors to encourage them to shop and visit the other businesses in the town centre.
“I am sure any help you can give to the town by improvements to tidy up the front of the premises in the interim would be most welcome and would indicate the commitment of JD Wetherspoon to being a key player on our High Street which your representatives have made in public on a number of occasions.”
