Alyth Community Council is calling on residents of the East Perthshire town to nominate people for the Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year awards.
This year, for the first time, there will also be an award for the Community Group of the Year.
Last year’s Citizen of the Year award went to Shona Milne for her work as a carer for people with disabilities and active involvement with a number of committees in the town.
The Young Citizen of the Year was shared between Alexander Tosh and Ryan Mollison for their joint fundraising efforts for disadvantaged children.
Chair of Alyth Community Council Sanjay Samani said: “As the nights draw in, its back to the time of the year to recognise and honour those who contribute their time, energy and effort to our community.
“This year, we will be recognising for the first time the Community Group of the Year as well as individuals. We would ask that when people are nominating individuals or groups for these awards that they submit as much supportive evidence as possible to ensure that the nomination has the greatest chance of success.”
Nominations are open now and close at 6pm on Tuesday November 27. Forms are available from the library and in shops around Alyth along with boxes to submit the completed forms.
You can nominate by letter to Viewpark, Meethill Road, Alyth, PH11 8DE or email at AlythCommunityCouncil@pkc.gov.uk.
Please provide the nominee’s name and contact details, which award you are nominating them for, along with your name and contact details. In particular please provide details of the reasons for the nomination.
The awards will be decided by the community council on November 28 and the decision will be based on the reasons for the nomination rather than the number of nominations an individual receives.
