The streets of Blairgowrie are a world away from life as a politics and American history student.
PC Turner studied at Dundee University before working at Holyrood as a parliamentary aide for the deputy speaker.
Safety
But her last job working for Tayside Safety Camera Partnership – a body which tackles speeding in notorious hotspots – means she is well placed to understand Blairgowrie’s ongoing road safety issues.
When asked how she sees her new role as the town’s go-to officer, she replied: “Getting out there and helping to make a difference to people’s lives is why I joined the police.
“This role is one of the most positive sides of policing.
“I feel proud to be in the police and want to show residents that we have a visible presence on the streets.”
Tourism is an important element of Blairgowrie’s economy and PC Turner said she believed it was important to protect the town’s image as a welcoming destination.
“I want people who come here to feel safe and enjoy their time,” she added.
“This is a great place to visit and to live in. The role of a community officer is to help preserve and cultivate this.”
