Ewan McGregor stars in Crieff tourism video

Nov 9 2012

by Lynn Duke, Strathearn Herald

Local actor Ewan McGregor has lent his voice to a tourism video promoting the huge range of places to stay and things to do in Strathearn.

Born in Perth Royal Infirmary and brought up in Crieff, Ewan still has a strong connection with the area and was pleased to be involved in the project.

Whilst visiting his parents Jim and Carol in Crieff over the summer, he recorded the script and added a touch of Hollywood glamour to the production.

The Trainspotting star’s mum Carol approved the idea.

She said: “I am delighted that Ewan has supported this project. He grew up here and still retains close ties with Crieff and Strathearn.”

The video features attractions including the Famous Grouse Experience, Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre and stunning shots of the surrounding countryside.

There is also a taste of local cuisine and accommodation providers including Crieff Hydro, where Ewan worked before his big break.

Stuart McLaren, chairman of the Crieff and Strathearn Tourism Association, praised the actor’s involvement in the project.

He said: “It’s fantastic that Ewan has supported this project. This is a beautiful part of the world and there is so much on offer here for visitors.”
