“It will be important to ensure these changes are clearly indicated and properly enforced.
“We also have to recognise that there are other safety changes beyond simply reducing speed limits that can and should be addressed in to further improve safety on these and other dangerous stretches of road throughout my constituency.
“I’d also like to make it clear to anyone unhappy with the recommendations that Transport Scotland will be advertising the proposed changes and people will have a chance to object.”
Crieff police Inspector Iain Ward was also pleased to hear of the recommendations.
He told the Herald: “I welcome any measure that will reduce casualties and the risk of road accidents on any route.”
Elsewhere in Perthshire, speed limits will be cut from 60mph to 40mph on the A85 East Huntingtower to Lochty Road but there are no plans to reduce the speed limit on the A9 between Perth and Inverness, considered one of Scotland’s most treacherous roads.
