Campbell’s Bakery in Crieff has been awarded a highly prestigious cup for its all-round baking abilities.

At the recently held British Confectioners’ Association AGM in St Andrews, Managing Director of the 182-year-old firm, Iain Campbell, was presented with the giant 105-year-old trophy to reward the overall excellent standard of the bakery’s products.

The firm is thought to be the oldest family bakery in Scotland.

The British Confectioners’ Association (BCA) is a UK-wide trade organisation founded in 1905 to promote the sharing of best practice and craftsmanship.

Entry to the BCA is by invitation only and is limited to 60 members. Among the products that Campbell’s Bakery excelled in were decorated Christmas biscuits, steak pies, morning rolls and fruit tartlets.

The competition is run over the course of a year with five meetings organised by a different host business each time.

Iain Campbell said: “This is a huge honour for Campbell’s Bakery.

“The BCA set very high standards and has some of Britain’s finest bakeries amongst its membership. To lift the BCA Cup really is the icing on the cake!”
