Glowing tributes have been paid to the hard-working committee behind Comrie Cancer Shop after it was announced the outlet raised £63,000 for good causes in 2012.
The tremendous figure, a chunk of which was donated to a deserving Scottish charity each month throughout the whole of last year, is the highest final total for a 12-month period since the shop was started back in 1978.
December saw the Maggies Centre in Perth and a colorectal trust fund split £5000 between them equally.
Jessie Robertson, who founded the shop with her husband and is now the vice-chair of its organising committee, thanked generous members of the community who regularly donate and purchase from the store.
When news of the achievement was published on The Herald’s Facebook page, several internet users were quick to pay homage to both the shop itself an the big-hearted volunteers who help make it such a fixture within the local community.
