The Post Office and only convenience store in the village had been due to close on December 29 amidst fears that it would be difficult to find someone to take over the shop once the Post Office was no longer operational.
However, a buyer has been found and, when the new owners take the reins on January 23, it is expected that an Outreach postal service will be provided on the site.
A spokesperson for Royal Mail confirmed that Blackford Post Office had been sold saying that they are currently in discussions with the new owner. They added: “We will communicate shortly on how we intend to provide Post Office services in the area.”
Until the handover, the convenience store will operate reduced hours from 7am to 1pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 8am to 1pm on Sundays. The Post Office will be open from 9am to 1pm, Monday to Saturday.
