Cromlix House is a highly praised hotel with the atmosphere of a much loved home. Set within an enchanting baronial mansion recalling the splendours of a bygone age, Cromlix also features a unique Chapel attached to the house, which is used for special weddings.
In the restaurant, outstanding modern Scottish cuisine is dished up by proprietors David and Ailsa Assenti, who succeed in exemplifying the true traditions of country house hospitality, treating each of their guests as a cherished individual. Cromlix is considered unique for sheer elegance and fine dining.
The décor is traditional and luxurious, with wood paneling and large leather armchairs. The Red Room, Green Room and Library are available for private functions. Weddings are often held in the adjoining chapel, allowing the ceremony and reception to take place under one roof.
Head chef Paul Devonshire takes only the best of fresh produce procured locally, and produces imaginative meals for the discriminating palate. Starters like the pan-fried fillet of sea trout set on tempura vegetables with red pepper and pesto, are an exquisite lead into a superb main course, like the loin of lamb with a fresh herb crust on a bed of ratatouille, pomme Elizabeth and a rosemary jus. A light, but indulgent pudding of crème fraîche and vanilla mousse with seasonal fruits follows.
Menus change daily and the wine list is discerning and extensive. Cromlix boasts 2 AA Rosettes.

When it comes to restaurants, golf or accommodation in Perthshire, it's hard to see past Gleneagles for quality, style and content.
The 79-year-old hotel, which has been described as 'a Riviera in the Highlands' and the 'eighth wonder of the world', is a common haunt for the rich and famous as well as hosting top golf tournaments. So it's not hard to see why Gleneagles cuisine is also top-of-the-range.
In fact, food at Gleneagles isn't even confined to one restaurant - there's four restaurants within the confines of the vast hotel.
And what's more, you don't have to be a guest at the hotel to enjoy a meal at Gleneagles; making Gleneagles the perfect option for a celebratory meal or special occasion.
The Strathearn Restaurant is famed for its excellent views across the Gleneagles estate and it has won two rosettes for its fabulous Scottish food and attentive service.
The food in the Strathearn is from a classical era with main courses ranging from Orkney Gold fillet of beef Rossini to Gressingham duck with caramelised apples in a poivre vert sauce.
The second restaurant is run by Scottish Chef of the Year Andrew Fairlie and is a quaint and intimate space where Andrew creates his signature dishes.
Andrew's menu is predominantly French with a Scottish twist, due to the bulk of his chef training taking place in the South of France.
But if you are to visit Andrew Fairlie's restaurant, it'd be wise to try his splendid Smoked Lobster which is cooked over old whisky barrels.
Famed for its vantage point over the King's and Queen's golf courses, the Dormy restaurant has a laid-back and informal style where the grill dishes are delightful.
Lastly The Club restaurant is a trendy addition to Gleneagles' assortment of eateries which boasts designer pizzas, steak grills and Mediterranean-influenced pastas.
